LET'S TALK: FUNHOUSE

FUNHOUSE is finally complete. I'm not gonna sit here and say it's my magnum opus or anything -- I even ended up doing last-minute changes -- but I'm proud of it. I just wish it didn't take so goddamn long.
First, I'd like to go over the real overarching changes I made. Initially, I'd planned for the second entry to be a little longer and have more pizzazz. This would lead into a sudden realization of something being wrong.
Now, I wanted the pacing to be a little bit better, but the more I think about it the more an idea like that digs its own grave. It'd require godlike writing ability to save the pacing of a story like that, and if I wanted to establish a true pattern with three entries, then it'd only muddy the waters of said pacing more. I scrapped it.
Then, I wanted to have an actual person show up in there. The person would be a construct, and this reveal would be mind-shattering to the main character, and yadda yadda. I was satisfied with the character writing and all, but I ended up just feeling like I shit all over my own premise. I liked the idea of "people" being in there, but I'd perhaps taken that idea too far. I implemented the idea of fake people being in there by adding it to a small line during the main character's breakdown of everything.
Oh yeah, and when it came to the breakdown I wanted it to be him going to different places and searching for people, realizing the environment outside the funhouse is completely barren and false. Again, feels like it requires more precision than my metaphorically "shaky hands" can muster up. I got rid of it in favor of a more abstract totaled "experience" that resulted in the events leading up to the ending.

Also, I have every draft of the middle part of the story saved. I don't know if anyone cares to see it, but if I ever add it the link will be here: [link]
They were deleted for a reason, so don't expect the most solid writing ever. The ending would've also received some minor alterations depending on the events I would decide to use. Some of the drafts have been polished here and there before being deleted, but even if I wanted to use them I would've absolutely done a lot more polishing first.
